South Vancouver Neighbourhood
This is a residential and family friendly neighbourhood with a recently renovated community centre and dog parks. The south end of Main St is home to the Punjabi Market, which runs over 6 city blocks. It was established in the 1970s when the Sunset neighbourhood saw an influx of Indo-Canadians settling in the area. The Indo-Canadian community also holds a harvest festival every year called Vaisakhi, complete with parade and delicious food. Along Fraser and Main are also many small, independent grocery stores and restaurants. Transit in this area is fairly accessible, though the frequency and quality of bus service can be frustrating at times. The closest SkyTrain is the Marine Drive SkyTrain on the Canada line located further west on Cambie Street.
